A growing friendship!

Levi and Makayla have always been close and there has always been a special love between them but everyday they are becoming better friends! I actually don't think that Levi remembers life without Makayla. He has never gone through a jealous phase and has always been super protective of her, almost to a fault. Almost everyday I meet someone who either flat out tells me I am crazy, wants to sympathize about how busy I must be, or just looks at me with a look that says, "why on earth would you have kids so close and be pregnant again, you must be crazy!"
BUT... everyday I get to see a growing friendship take place right in front of my eyes. Levi adores his "sis" and Makayla looks up to her "E.I." and everyday there are moments that blow me away. For example...today we were having lunch and after we finished eating each of them got a cookie. Makayla finished first and was almost done with her cookie by the time Levi got his but when Levi got his he immediately broke it into two pieces and gave half to his sis. I gave it back to him and explained that he didn't have to share his cookie today, that each of them got their own cookie today but no matter what I said he would not budge. He insisted that he share with Makayla, he WANTED to share with her. What 2 and a half year old WANTS to share a cookie?
We are so blessed by our children! They bring joy to our lives everyday and I am so grateful for the friendship that is continually developing between them. What a great feeling it is for us as parents to see our children not only love each other but truly put the other first. I hope and pray that it is a friendship that will last a lifetime and that no matter what their ages they will always be proud to call themselves brother and sister!
