Summer Camping

I know, it's not summer anymore, but I haven't posted in months now and I had to start somewhere right? And...I didn't want to forget this last summer because it was the first summer that we took the kids camping. Although it definitely won't be the last!!!

We started early in June by heading over to Prineville Reservoir with our good friends Brian and Kelly Obrist. We had a great time, the weather was cold, I'm talking the low 30's at night and the water was freezing as well but we played lots of games and did venture out for a couple boat rides, oh...... and Kelly managed to fracture her tibia while attempting to wakeboard. We just wanted to make sure it was a camping trip she would never forget, or atleast that's what we tell ourselves now :) The kids did great, much better than we expected. We were a little concerned about how they would sleep in a tent when it wasn't totally dark out yet but by 8pm the first night they had explored so much that they were telling us they were tired and ready to go to bed! :)

Next we went to Detroit Lake for the 4th of July with some amazing friends, the Erdahls, the Collins, the Heaths, the Atkins, and the Hills (we missed you Hudsons!)

Again it was chilly and the water was breath-takingly cold but we were with good friends so we didn't care! There were also 14 kids whose bodies can withstand any amount of cold we could dish at them so they kept us going.

Then we headed to Perry South at Lake Billy Chinook. Finally the weather was warm, the water was warm and the friends were still great!

And we ended the summer at Lake Shasta in California where the sun was hot and the water was bath like. Unfortunately we were having so much fun that I didn't take many pictures :) We had a great time though! The kids jumped off the swim platform every time the boat stopped and it was always a battle to get them back in. By this time they were camping pros. We were so impressed with how well they did that it makes us excited to go camping again next summer!

We also took a couple day trips to the river with our families.
The Soanka side...
The Riegelmann side...
